From Knockholt’s small rail station, amble over the golf course to find 78 acres of family-run farmland and bountiful gooseberries, courgettes, strawberries, spinach and, into autumn, up to 13 eating-apple varieties.  It’s open every day throughout summer (quite a rarity with PYO farms) and also sells mistletoe for those already plotting their Christmas snogs. Remember to bring cash – they don’t take plastic.

Vegetables from £1/kg, strawberries £2/kg, Hewitts Farm
