After a summer of union flags and strawberries, Sainsbury's continues to champion Britain into the autumn as 20 new-to-market beers from breweries around the country battle it out to become winner of the supermarket's 2012 Great British Beer Hunt. Selected from a series of regional heats, the 20 finalists go on sale in early autumn. On 5 October, the 10 highest sellers will go through to a grand final and the winner will be selected by a panel of expert judges and Sainsbury's customers.

The competition was relaunched in response to the rising popularity of craft beers. If you're a fan of these special brews, this (from lowest to highest scores, in our expert's opinion) is what you can look forward to finding on the shelves at your local Sainsbury's this autumn...
