The appropriately named Hope has an unusual tale. When the pub looked like it might become an Indian restaurant in 2010, 32 locals got together and bought it. According to chairman Rodger Molyneux: "The pub was already on the right path, but we've taken it further down the track." Seven hand pumps mean two local beers and five guest ales, and Rodger promises they always have one dark beer.

Just lets be thankful that some pubs are still open bearing in mind the raise of duty on alchohol and V.A.T increase

Dave Bax, I suggest buying a map and investing time in geography as saying "I see there are 2 token gestures north of the watford gap" suggests that you have no idea of where places are geographically.

Pubs have never been the same since the smoking ban.

One in the Scottish Region I see. Total joke to call it regional pubs and have all the main areas of England covered. Might as well have called it English Regional Pubs.  That's my CAMRA membership lapsing.

Blimey, can remember getting barred from the V&A many years ago, whilst in my teens, great days!

I see Rochdale got a mention. Apart from pervert Muslims from there that have shamed the rest of them, Toad Lane is a very famous address. Most of you probably never heard of, but you all know the name of the company that started there.     THE CO-OPERATIVE movement.

The Six Bells, Bishopscastle, 5/6 different home brews, good food , great banter in the bar, especially at 5pm when the codgers club is in full flow.....no glass sniffing, self importanted, beer snobs needed at this pub ..just real people that like a well brewed pint and can hold a conversation for more than 2 minutes and not necessarily about beer!!... suck it and see that it does what it says on the can.......all real

Why have CAMRA never focus on pubs that have stayed open over the years and continued to provide

real ales and local ciders. The Tum Inn Wormelow HR2 8EJ has continued to sell the best pint of Butty Bach in Herefordshire for the last 6 years.

The Tump has never subscribed to ant publication or Organisation that has shown Pub of the Year based on subscription.

Try us.

What may be good for one may not be so good for another.. Such a waste of space is not worth elaborating on...  We all have our favourites, end of story..........My favourite is the Rose & Crown in Ulverston...The place were my beloved and I courted...........Oh and the 'Crown' bar in Belfast were I have gone ever since a student a long time ago..  The place were my life began really.........The Crown also featured in a 1940's movie with James Mason as the lead.. Google it.

I make it 10 on the 'North of Watford Gap' Scale.  As it's a region by region competition, it's what I would expect.  Oh and Geordie... if there are no pubs past Yorkshire, are you looking North or South?  (That could set off more sniping!)

I hope the Clovelly Inn at Bratton Clovelly in Devon, is mentioned,

There is no TV and next to no phone signals, just dam good food and drink and extremely friendly staff, and you can just talk the day away with the locals
