There are few finer things in life than sitting in a pub garden, the sun beating down, supping an ice-cold drink or two. And with so many pubs boasting brilliant beer gardens these days, the UK drinker is spoilt for choice. But where are the very best places to go when the sun's out? MSN dons its sunglasses, slaps on the factor 25 and finds out...

pathetic as usual!! try getting out of the south of england for a change and open your eyes to the beauties up north and see some real beer gardens

Why is there nothing north of Berkshire???  and those in the list are OK but nothing fantastic. There are some amazing beer gardens in the Lakes, Lancashire and Yorkshire for instance

London, Dorset, Essex. Same old every time

Give your reporters a map so they can see the rest of Britain

Yet again another useless set of information for someone who lives anywhere north of London....

I live in lancashire and there are a couple of amazing pubs with fantastic beer gardens looking over the ribble valley.

But once again your researchers have their Southern tinted glasses on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stefan,

It's hard to take this seriously when every entry bar one is in the South. Did someone send you a little picky of the other one so it looks like you have done some research. There are 100's of pubs in between your selections that would merit consideration.

This is really lazy rubbish, I sincerely hope you are on a YTS.

Nice to see theres plenty up North, apart from the one in Scotland do your reporters ever venture outside of London and the South??

List has obviously been put together by a biased southerner.

Great Britain goes past Watford Gap

Nothing between Watford and the North of Scotland?

You should pay your rersearchers more to get them away from their internet searches!

Another reporter who has never been north of Watford! What is the point? Does the reporter think northerners are yet to be connected to the internet and therefore wouldn't read this useless list?

Lin Kaye I so agree. Like so many of these articles if it isn't south of Hertfordshire then it doesn't exist - just throw the odd Northern/Scottish/Welsh one as a taken gesture. Seems like most of the writers live in the South and have never been north of Watford and so cannot give a balanced view about the best of anything. Have to pity them really as they are missing out on so much more that the UK has to offer

This article should have been called 9 pubs with nice beer gardens in the South and 1 in Scotland

Once again the phrase "UK" is warped to mean anything south of the M4, like living in the south is something that should be aspired too. This really gets my goat, the BBC weather is guilty of this too. Obviously with the token Scottish pub it makes it all PC. Surely given the location of all these pubs and the company that would have to be endured as a result, makes them the worst "Best" pubs south of the M4?
What would I know, I live near Birmingham so that makes me only a humble coal miner / factory worker

So, apparently there are no pubs with fantastic beer gardens anywhere else in the UK (apart from one in Scotland).
Perhaps whoever researched this should actually turn off the computer, get out of the office and go for a tour round the UK - only then would they be qualified to decide which pubs have the most spectacular view !!!
I agree these look very nice - but there is more to the UK than the home counties

AND ANOTHER THING, MSN WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU TOURED THE COUNTRY,? LOOKING AT BEER GARDENS, NO WAY WHAT A LIE, YOU DO NOT EXPECT US TO BELIEVE YOU WENT AS FAR AS WESTER ROSS, AND NOWHERE  INBETWEEN RUBBISH, WHO WOULD WASTE ALL THE TIME AND MONEY JUST TO GO THERE AND BACK FOR A REVIEW.

WHAT ABOUT, YORKSHIRE, NORTHUMBERLAND, THE BORDERS, EDINBURGH, GLASGOW, PERTH INVERNESS, ABERDEEN, AND ALL THE COASTAL TOWNS, ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

IN SAYING COUNTRY, YOU MISSED ALL OF IT YOU LONDONERS, THAT BIT OF THE MAP YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO FORGET, YES, WALES, WHAT BEAUTIFULL COUNTRY, AND BEER GARDENS TO DIE FOR, NOT FORGETTING IRELAND, MYSTICAL, AND BREATHTAKING.

SO IF YOU WANT A TRUE REVIEW OF THE BEER GARDENS OF BRITAIN AND IRELAND, AND WALES, AND SCOTLAND, AND NORTHUMBERLAND, IN FACT ANYWHERE BUT LONDON.

I CHALLENGE YOU TO GIVE ME THE JOB.

WHAT DO YOU SAY MSN,  ( TO SCARED EH )

Big surprise - all bar one of the entries are in the all important Sarf of Ingerland. Do your research, get off your bums we've got better beer in the north and our beer gardens have views and comfort and stuff.

Have you heard the rumours about a land north of Watford?

avatar
Anyone noticed that, apart from one pub in the Highlands, these pubs all seem to be south of the Watfod Divide...?
Does the reporter live in London perchance?
Some lovely suggestions, for sure, but don't forget there are beautiful beer gardens in the Midlands, and further North, and there must be loads in Wales and many more in Scotland.
Maybe there's a website for this information?  Admittedly it has given me an itch to find out!

As a Scot, even the scottish pub featured is in a very remote location. I live in Glasgow and it is way too far for a Sunday Drive. Even if you overnighted there it would take all day to get there and all day the next day to get home. The majority of Scots do not live in the Highlands so featuring one fairly inaccessible pub in Scotland doesn't really count even as a token northen pub.

@ Peter brodribb,

Clearly you have not travelled very far have you!!!  Well done though! first post and insulting the 'North'  What do you know of, North Yorkshire? The Dales, The Lake District??  Northumbria. I guess, 'Nothing'......... Ignorant arse!
