Marinated olives are a simple taste of the Mediterranean regardless of where you are in the UK. They're relatively healthy and go down well in the pub. Those on offer at The Swan Inn in the pretty Cotswolds village of Swinbrook are a cut above the crowd. They marinade the olives themselves in a mixture of olive oil and herbs, and serve them with a tomato foccacia bread to soak up the olive oil.

"favourite pub snacks from around the UK" ??? Yet another example of bias towards London and the south east with hardly any pubs north of Watford.  Lazy journalism.

they should do write up on the worst, if so i hope they try out the fox and hounds in colerne, it was the most disgusting food we have ever tasted, i have no idea what fish they used in their fish and chips, it was like mush when i cut the fish open that looked nothing i have ever seen before, my wife had the beef pie of which she had two bites and left it, thank god we had packed some gaviscon in our bags as we where up in the night with indegestion, on of the villagers told us we where crazy to eat there, none of the locals will eat in the place.

Sorry...Fox at Willan.....fish and chips are not meant to be chef-d'oeuvre....!  Probably stone cold by the time they're served up stacked-up. Would probably throw-up on sight.  Some of the other pubs are positively disgusting...How can you class olives as pub food, Icould definately throw-up with a belly-full of olives..!....Just give me a plate of cheddar, pickled onions and home-made bread..Most cask ales will go well with this...

I just want to echo the comments of Philip Lord. There are other places to eat than London. It would be rather a long journey for me each weekend as I reside in Leeds which is West Yorkshire. How about trying a meal at the Rythre Arms in Ryther on the outskirts of Selby. Steaks to die for cooked properly in a friendly, family run pub.

Best scotch egg ever at The Quarryman's Rest in Bampton, (Devon, in case there is another Bampton).   Light crispy crumb coating, mixture of pork, black pudding and duck meat, and a runny-yolked egg, absolutely delicious and huge!

Sorry but there are no Pubs now, just places that serve food that sell the occasional Pint, cafes with a drinks licence, no wonder they are closing down.
