Andy Bates talks British street food with MSN
With the UK’s Best Street Food Awards taking place recently, the street food movement is growing – and it’s gone way beyond polystyrene cups full of winkles at the seaside.
Stallholder and TV presenter Andy Bates is fresh back from filming the second series of Food Network UK's Andy Bates Street Food, filmed this time in the USA. We shared a pie with him and chatted about his love of street food, why great British is the best food going and his new project, The Andy Bates Cookbook.
You can watch MSN Food's interview with Andy Bates in the video above and catch Andy Bates’ new series American Street Feasts on Food Network UK (Freeview 48 and Sky 262/263) weekdays at 12.30 and 18.30.

Andy, yesterday I caught your programme from Philadelphia and you´ve found Americans that obey the basic rules of my kitchen. "Never, repeat , Never put hot and cold food on the same plate".
In 1980 my daughters, after a hard day´s work moving house, insisted on fetching burgers from a famous place that I´d better not name. I was disgusted and haven´t touched one since. The principal ingredients are mutually incompatible, the hot meat wilts the cold salad and the cold salad chills the hot meat. Hurray for Philadephia!
I think you can teach the Americans a thing or two with your Gumbo pies, I shall be trying that recipe out shortly
